Is it more cardiovascular exercise? Is it what I eat? Is it the way I lift weights?
It's a question that I'm asked almost daily in person and online.
Regardless of your body type, barring any injuries, my answers about quick weight loss and how to lose fat are generally the same.
It's always a combination of the above.
To help you in quick weight loss and in reaching your ideal weight, I'm including my Top 5 weight loss tips.
...Top 5 Weight Loss Tips...
1) Understand Cardio - Since most people go to the gym and hop up on the treadmill, bike, or elliptical trainer, I want to help you make sure that you aren't wasting your time.
It's rare that people work too hard on these machines. More often, those looking for fat loss spend too much time on their cardiovascular exercise without ever working at a high enough intensity.
My clients that have seen the best weight loss results from their fat burning workouts changed from doing an hour or more of cardio to 20 - 30 minutes per workout at a higher intensity. You'll get better fat loss results and it'll be less boring since you won't be up there as long.
2) Lift Weights First - Part of your weight lifting program success comes not only from consistency, but from when during your workout you use it.
In both cardiovascular exercise and in weight lifting, your body uses both carbohydrates and fats for energy.
By lifting weights first in your workout routine, you'll have fewer carbohydrate stores in your system when it is time to do your cardiovascular exercise, thus forcing your body to burn through the fats.
3) Skip the Easy Stuff - Most people are comfortable doing bicep curls and some of the tricep exercise variations, but if finding the best way to lose weight (or even muscle building weight gain) is really your goal you should eliminate these from your program almost entirely.
Not everyone in the health and fitness industry will agree with me on that point, but ask my successful clients how often I've asked them to do these single joint exercises. Almost never would be their answer. Then ask them if their bodies are changing the way they had envisioned. Yes, most definitely.
4) Consistency - "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take," said Wayne Gretzky.
It's true for sports, workouts, and life. If you're missing workouts and not showing up at the gym for your cardiovascular exercise and weight training, then you'll never reach your goals.
Is it true that you'll miss a workout once in a while? Yes, probably, but if you make it to over 90% of your planned workouts, your body will change for the better and you'll be on your way to the best way to lose weight.
Grab your calendar or day planner and start writing in your workout appointments.
5) Get Help - I've got a financial advisor, a website mentor, a business coach, and a great network of friends and colleagues who are great at the things that I'm not very good at yet.
I'll be able to help you find out what may be missing from your exercise workout routines and why you aren't seeing the results you're after.
