Is your Home Fitness workout program working out for you?

If it isn't, or if it used to be, but you're not seeing the same results anymore, this information in this article will help.

Most people that I know enjoy working out at a gym or health club, but life, work, family and other responsibilities sometimes make that extra trip inconvenient.

That's when the excuses start and you start to miss workouts.

That's also when people just give up.

So, what's the solution? Is there any way to get your daily exercise without the gym?

Of course there is -- your own in-home workout program.

Creating a workout space in your home does not have to be expensive. And, following a fitness program in your home may be easier than you think...

...Top 10 Secrets to Successful Home Fitness Workouts...

1) Set Appointments - Knowing ahead of time when you plan to work out is crucial in making exercise a habit. Grab your calendar or day planner, and set workout appointments with yourself. This way you'll be able to make sure that it won't interfere with other events.

2) Make Exercise a Family Affair - Group workouts are great and they are more fun. Get your spouse and/or kids involved. If you don't have a family, invite your roommates to work out with you. The time will go by faster and it won't feel like exercise.

3) Dedicate a Workout Space - You don't need a ton of super expensive, heavy exercise equipment to enjoy home fitness workouts, but you should know where in your house or apartment you'll be working out. Make sure there is little in the area to distract you (i.e. - phone, tv, computer) so that you know you will be giving your workout your full attention.

4) Keep an Exercise Log - Keeping track of your workouts will help you to see the progress you are making. Be sure to write down the exercises you do, the weight you use, and the number of sets and repetitions completed. You may also want to log the time you rest in between sets and you can also pick a weigh day if weight loss is one of your goals.

5) Eat Right - A healthy eating plan is key to the success of any workout routine. The same way you plan your workouts, so should you plan your meals and your snacks. Try this free 8-day email nutrition course to get a better idea of your nutrition starting point.

6) Rest and Recovery - A good night's sleep and even a nap here and there are often overlooked on the road to overall health and well-being. Making sure you get that extra hour of rest will give you more energy at work and in your home gym.

7) Set Goals and Deadlines - Knowing your objective(s) and the date(s) you want to achieve them by is a great way to stay on track for success. In addition to setting your workout appointments, be sure to mark off your goals on your calendar. Print it out and keep it somewhere you can see it easily, too -- on the desk and on the fridge are two of my favorite spots.

8) Get the Right Equipment - Your home gym equipment doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. I use everything in this personal trainer gym bag for my boot camp classes, my in-home clients, and for my own home fitness workouts. When you're done with it for the day, it fits neatly in the closet or in the garage. You could even keep it in the trunk of your car if you are heading to a park for an outdoor workout.

9) Hire a Health Professional - Finding a personal trainer who has the education and the experience to help you change your body and your health is one of the smartest ways to either break through a fitness plateau or to get started on a fitness program that will ensure results. Our Manhattan Beach Personal Trainer team serves the Los Angeles area and would love to help. If you live a little bit farther away, use our find a personal trainer directory.

10) Update Your Program - 10-minute video workouts are the way of the future. Too many people I meet are still using a workout routine that was ripped out of a magazine 5 years ago. It may have worked at first, but your body adapts quickly and then stops seeing results.

Our favorite fitness resource for consistently updating our in-home workouts are the 10-minute video workouts created by our friend and home workout expert Dave Gleason.
