NASM Foundations is your stepping stone to success as a personal trainer.
If you are new to the personal training industry and are not yet certified, this coursework is designed to prepare you for the more intense curriculum of the CPT (NASM Personal Trainer Certification) distinction.
As a fitness manager and faculty instructor, I was fortunate to take many new fitness hires through this introduction.
The course is best suited for those who have not had the luxury of previous classwork focused on anatomy and physiology or biomechanics.
Several of my students were making drastic career changes from completely different fields.
Their college coursework was probably the farthest thing from anatomy and physiology, so they benefitted greatly.
You can expect to learn about the skeletal system, the nervous system, and muscular anatomy.
Students will also be introduced to planes of movement and terminology of joint actions within those planes.
For others in class, the material included was just a good review of lectures they had already sat through.
If you have already earned a degree in any form of health sciences or are currently certified by a nationally recognized organization, you may choose to jump right into your CPT studies.
