NSCA versus NASM

"Differences in the Debate of NSCA versus NASM"

nasm

The ongoing debate of NSCA versus NASM and which is better...

It's an argument that we're not interested in having.

As an active health professional for the last decade, I've made things easier on myself by utilizing the best of what I'm introduced to.

Sure, you may have preferences, but in the long run, it is rare that there is only one right answer.

Your clients will be sure to benefit from your fitness knowledge, regardless of which of these two personal trainer certification distinctions you have.

...The Differences...

Having studied for and earned each of these fitness certifications, I am proud to say that I use information from each to help my clients reach their goals.

The NSCA Personal Trainer Certification also known as the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) is heavily geared toward working with and designing programs for athletic teams and/or an athletic population.

I've actually used many of their teachings with clients of all ages -- from 5 years of age up to 83.

The National Academy of Sports Medicine CPT program, I think, appeals to a wider audience.

That is not to say that one is "better" than the other.

The OPT model, I've found is one of the easiest to describe to potential clients.

It helps to build a blueprint that they can visualize as you foreshadow what they can expect to be focused on as you outline their training regimine. In short, I've found it to be useful as a personal trainer sales tool.

Whichever certification's methods you prefer, know that both are among the most highly sought after fitness certifications available.
