"Personal Trainer Resume"

Surpass the Competition with your Personal Trainer Resume

become a personal trainer

Is your Personal Trainer Resume ready?

If you're interested in employment at a health club or Personal Training studio, you'll need a high quality Personal Trainer resume and cover letter to get you in the door.

As a former fitness manager, I've sorted through hundreds of resumes....the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I've also conducted hundreds of personal trainer interviews - more than I'd like to remember.

As important as the interview is, your resume creates the first impression of your potential as a Personal Trainer.

Don't let the knowledge you've gained in a certification class, in school, or in life go to waste by sending out an unremarkable resume.

Before we go any further, I'd like to thank "Resume Guru Marni" for her contributions to this section and for her expertise in the art of Professional Resume Writing.

The Content of Your Resume

The content of your document will differ slightly depending upon your level of experience in the field.

We want to be sure to highlight your strongest points. Here's an introduction to the main sections:

  • Professional Experience
  • Achievements
  • Responsibilities
  • Education
  • Certifications
  • Conferences/Seminars/Workshops Attended
  • Additional Skills
"2 New Clients this Week!!"

"Hey dude, I just wanted to send you an email about your coaching course. I added 2 high-paying clients this week from a few of your tips. I can't believe I wasn't doing this stuff before. I definitely recommend your Personal Trainer Coaching, I just don't want my competition to find out!

Mike W.
Sarasota, FL

Professional Experience - In this section you'll want to focus on your previous efforts in the fitness industry. If you have none, use your most customer-service oriented positions.

Achievements - Similar to your Professional Experience, if you've received accolades within the fitness industry, then be specific. If your achievements are from an outside industry or if they are academic, you may list these as an alternative.

Responsibilities - Give the details of your job requirements. Be specific and be honest.

Education - Detail your highest level of education along with the institution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to list coursework relevant to the position you are seeking.

Certifications - The Personal Training certifications we've listed in this guide are the most highly sought after worldwide. Your listing should include those current and those in progress.

Continuing Education - Each year, while I'm working on my Personal Training Business Plan, I also select dates that I'd like to attend conferences, seminars, and workshops. The information and hands-on experience you gain here is invaluable.

Additional Skills - Computer, Customer Service, Presentation, etc.

"I simply did not have the technical resume writing skills to produce the type of document prospective employers are looking for. The Team at Resumes Write Now took my 6 pages of "history" and created a concise and professional resume that finally got me the call back I was hoping for."
Ann Keefer, Palmetto, FL

"I have never been confident about my resume until now. Resumes Write Now said everything I've been trying to say, but just couldn't put together. My expectation was an incremental improvement over what I had, but they really took it to another level; I really am speechless!"
J.P., Lake Mary, FL

...To Your Future Success...

Thank you for visiting My-Personal-Trainer-School.com. As a health professional for much of the last decade, I understand the ups and downs of the fitness industry and the successes and frustrations that many of you have.

It's been a wonderful ride and if I could do it all over again, I would -- but with one definite change. I would have started my personal training website much earlier on in my career.

Having a presence on the web has opened my eyes to forms of monetization that I never would have realized, opportunites for joint ventures with health and business professionals around the world, and taken my overall fitness business to new levels of success.
