"Personal Training Overview"

What is Your Vision of Personal Training?

cable exercise

Imagine Personal Training.

Is personal training...

  • FUN?
  • exciting?
  • motivational?
  • Results-based?
  • Entertaining?

It should be all of these things.

We've all been to gyms where some of the club staff are holding up the walls, arms crossed, shoulders blocking your way to the stretching mats or the next machine in your Circuit Workout.

If this is what you've experienced, you're probably a bit apprehensive about how we might be able to help you.

Fun and fitness is meant for everyone! That means that it is also for you. If you haven't found the right fit yet, or if you are a client, well, then there's always more room to learn.

Our staff are all Nationally Certified instructros with degrees in Physical Education - Exercise Science.

We're not bouncers. We are here to help you, whether it is Online or if you happen to be near Boston, Massachusetts, we'd be glad to stop by.

What is a Personal Trainer?

So, what do we actually do?

Lots of things, beginning with postural assessments and movement assessments. If you can't move comfortably through a range of motion with your own bodyweight, then it might be dangerous or counterproductive for you to try it with extra weight.

“As my personal trainer for almost 4 years Dave has motivated and encouraged me while adapting fitness routines to meet my individual needs and requests. I am continually impressed by Dave’s professionalism and obvious passion for helping others. He is knowledgeable, supportive, and dependable and is constantly striving to make my workouts enjoyable. He has encouraged me with multidimensional programs which have a good balance of stretching and toning, and I look forward to working on improving my fitness and flexibility with Dave for many years to come.”

Program Design: Flexibility, Core, and Movement

Looking at how you stand and move is our magnifying glass that allows us to begin the flexibility exercises part of your program.

This is where we choose all of the stretches that are specific to your goals. If we're thinking about toning the hips, thighs, and glutes but we can't move into a squat correctly, it won't matter if we do 500,000 squats this year. We'll never activate the muscles that we're trying to reach without first employing the correct flexibility and mobility exercises.

After we have begun to correct your postural imbalances, we change our focus to Core Training, isometric exercise, and more advanced movements as in an exercise ball workout.

The better control you have of your deep core muscles that stabilize the spine and hips, the more effective the rest of your workout will be. Strengthening these muscles will help you prevent low back pain, allow you to push better, pull better, run better, and feel better.

Fitness Program Progressions

It is important to note that.....

the most effective fitness programs are not "cookie-cutters".

Following the corrective flexibility focus, we begin to teach correct movement patters, whether it be with bodyweight or an external resistance.

One's ability to efficiently perform a specific action repeatedly, will determine the direction of your individual routine from that point.

Our current clients are training for either endurance, size, strength, and/or power at the various points in their individual routines.
